Farmagusta is a city on the east coast of Cyprus. The golden sandy beaches make it popular with both holiday makers and fans of water sports.
The city was originally known as Ammochostos (meaning 'hidden in the sand' and the locals still refer to it today as this. The name has developed into Farmagusta due to Western languages.
